Add Brev Coworker (onboarding)
Onboarding includes an optional step, right after the calendar step, where you add Brev to Slack or Microsoft Teams so it can work alongside your team where you already talk.
This step comes right after connecting your calendar. It asks you to connect Slack (or Teams, where your organization has it) so your Brev coworker can work alongside you there: taking action in Brev without opening it, drafting your check-ins and updates for you to review, and doing your meeting prep. It's optional.
Your options #
The step shows the same two rows as AI coworkers in Settings: Slack coworker and Teams coworker. The Slack row reads Available with a Connect Slack button. What the Teams row offers depends on your organization, as below.
- Connect Slack: you'll go to Slack's own approval screen, then come back to this step with a green Connected in place of the button. Your coworker introduces itself with a direct message in Slack a short while later, and you can reply to it there.
- Request access: on the Teams row when it reads By request, because Microsoft Teams isn't enabled for your organization. It opens Request Teams coworker, where you can say what it would unlock for you (optional) and press Request access. The row then reads Feature requested. Nothing is connected from here.
- Connect Teams: on the Teams row when your organization has Microsoft Teams and an admin has connected the Brev Teams app. You sign in to Microsoft with your work account and come back here. Until an admin has connected the app, the row reads Needs admin setup with an Open Integrations link instead. See Connecting the Teams coworker.
- Skip: at the top right of the preview beside the form (at the left end of the button row on a narrow window). Brev moves on to the review screen, and you can connect Slack later.
Continue is always available on this step, connected or not, because the coworker is optional and your organization may have nothing you can connect yet. Once your Slack coworker is connected, Skip goes away. It is the same connection either way: what you set up here is what Settings shows afterwards, and you do not have to do it twice. Reconnecting and disconnecting are not offered during onboarding; you do both from the AI coworkers settings page.
If you cancel on Slack's approval screen, or the connection is refused, you land back on this step with a message saying what happened, and you can try again or skip. When the Slack account you picked is in a workspace Brev has not been added to for your organization, the message says so and asks an admin to add it there. If Brev can't check whether your coworker is already set up, the step says so and points you at the AI coworkers settings page.
If you skip it #
After onboarding, your coworker is one click away on AI coworkers in Settings. The app-wide workspace banner and a small reminder above the Operator's message box are about your organization's Slack or Teams app, which an admin connects from Integrations.
