Your company (onboarding)

Tell Brev (or confirm) your company name, industry, and a short description. If you arrived via an invitation, these are already filled in for you.

Open in app
core

This step comes right after About you and is headed “Tell us about your company”. Owners and admins fill it in for the whole workspace. If you're joining an existing workspace via an invitation, you see what your workspace has filled in, locked (anything your admins left blank stays empty), and you just press Continue.

Continue saves your company details and moves you through the remaining connection steps before a review screen. From that review, “Let's go!” starts a short guided goals session with the Operator.

What this step asks #

  • Company logo: owners and admins only. Click the tile, drop or browse for a PNG or JPEG (up to 10MB, at least 400px by 400px), crop it, and press Save. The logo saves straight away rather than on Continue, and the trash button next to it removes it. Optional; you can also add or change it later from Settings → Workspace → General. Known issue: with the crop left as it first appears, most logos are rejected as too small even when the file itself is big enough. Drag the corners of the crop outward so it covers most of the image before you press Apply Crop.
  • Company name: what your teammates see at the top of every page. It needs 2 to 50 characters; Continue stays unavailable until it has at least 2, and a longer name shows “Company name must be fewer than 50 characters”.
  • Industry: free text, e.g. Software.
  • Company description: a sentence or two about what your company does, up to 2,000 characters. Brev's AI uses what you say about your company as context, for example in the opening of your guided goals session. A count under the box shows how much you have used; past the limit it turns red, and Continue stays unavailable until you shorten it. Known issue: if you press Continue, then come back with Back, the description can appear twice, and pressing Continue again saves it that way. Delete the repeated text before you continue.

If you're not an owner or admin, the fields show your workspace's details, locked (anything your admins left blank stays empty), with the note “Your company name is managed by your organization admin.”, and there is no logo tile. Continue moves on without changing anything. See Roles & permissions for who can edit company details.

Why the company name is already filled in #

When you sign up with a work email and Brev creates a new workspace for you, the workspace starts out named after your email domain (for example acme.com), and that is the name the sidebar shows until you finish this step.

On this step, Company name arrives filled in with a name Brev worked out from your domain (for example Acme for acme.com), or with the domain itself. Change it if it isn't how your company writes its name. Whatever is in the field when you press Continue becomes your workspace name everywhere.

Details Brev fills in for you #

While this step is open, Brev looks up your company in the background for up to a minute. Any field you haven't touched fills in on its own as soon as a result arrives: the company name, Industry, and Company description.

  • Suggested: <value>: if you already typed your own company name or industry and Brev finds something different, your text stays and a green suggestion appears under the field instead. Press the check mark to use it, or the X to dismiss it.
  • If you already wrote your own description, Brev adds what it found after your text instead of replacing it. Edit or delete it as you like. If adding it would take the description past 2,000 characters, Brev leaves your text as it is.
  • If nothing turns up, the fields stay as they are. You can continue at any time; the lookup never holds up the step.

The preview on the right #

On a wide screen, the preview pane shows your company card as you fill it in: logo, name, industry, and description. Once Brev has read the job title you gave on the About you step, the Digest card fills with a short take on your role: what a quarter in your seat usually turns on, and the objectives, metrics, or collaborators that tend to matter. It shows placeholder bars while that is being prepared (up to about a minute) and stays hidden when there is nothing useful to say. You can continue at any time; this never holds up the step.

Rich firmographics happen later
Full firmographic data (HQ city, revenue, headcount, year founded, …) lives on Company profile: fill it in once you're in the product.
PreviousRole step (legacy link)If you have an old bookmark to /onboarding/role, Brev sends you to onboarding where you left off. Your field is now picked on the 'About you' step.
NextConnect Your Calendar (onboarding step 3)Connect Google Calendar (or Outlook) so the AI meeting agent can join your recurring meetings and produce notes.
