Custom view

Build your own slice of goals: filter, group, save, share. URL-addressable at /views/c/<viewUuid>.

advanced

Custom views live at /views/c/<viewUuid>: every saved configuration gets its own stable URL, which means you can paste a link in chat or embed it in a doc and anyone with access will see the same configuration.

Creating a custom view #

  1. 1
    Start from an existing view
Open Organization, a built-in view, a team view or a view shared with you, and set the filters you want (team, owner, time period, status, etc.). See Filtering a view.
  2. 2
    Save as new
Click Save in the filter row and choose Private ("Only visible to people you invite"). The view is created with an auto-generated name (click the title to rename it), and the share dialog opens so you can pick who else sees it. The menu's Public option makes an org-wide view; it's disabled for anyone who isn't an Admin or Owner (hover it to see 'Only admins can create an org-wide view').
  3. 3
    Done
The new view lives in your sidebar under My Views. Each saved view gets a stable URL at /views/c/<viewUuid>, you can paste the link, but it'll only resolve for you (see below).
Custom views are private by default
A custom view starts private: it appears only in your sidebar, and the URL /views/c/<viewUuid> won't open for anyone else. Org Admins don't see your custom views either. To share a slice of goals with a whole team, a team view is often the better fit.
Choose who else sees your view
Click Share in the view header to open the share dialog. Search for specific people or teams and click Share. The view appears in their sidebar under 'Shared with me', read-only. The 'People with access' list shows everyone the view is shared with; use 'Remove access' next to a person or team to un-share. Admins can also switch 'General access' to make the view org-wide. When you save a new view as Private, the share dialog opens automatically so you can pick who to share it with.

Editing or deleting a custom view #

  • Rename: click the view's title ("Click to edit"), type the new name and press Enter; Esc cancels. Or hover the view's row in the sidebar, open its ⋯ menu and choose Rename.
  • Change its filters: change any filter, then click Save in the filter row. The changes are stored in the view ("View updated"); until you save they are only your draft. Layout is a personal preference and is not saved with the view.
  • Delete: click the trash icon (Delete view) in the view header and confirm with Delete, or choose Delete from the row's ⋯ menu in the sidebar. The view and its URL go away; the goals and metrics it showed are unaffected.
Who can edit / delete
The creator only. No admin override. Even Org Admins cannot edit or delete another user's custom view, and people it's shared with get read-only access. (Once a view is made org-wide, editing switches to admins only. See the shared view doc.)

Re-creating a view someone showed you #

If someone shared their view with you, you can't rename, share or delete it, and filter changes you make aren't saved to it. To make your own copy, open it, adjust the filters, then click Save and choose Private. The new view starts from the filters on screen and lands in your My Views.

PreviousViews (sidebar)Saved goal-list configurations: Organization and the Views list in the sidebar's Goals section (All Goals, At Risk, Behind, shared and your own views), plus filters, KPIs and Present Mode.
NextShared (org-wide) viewAdmins can save a view for the entire org. It shows up in every member's sidebar (they view it like a preset); how each member orders or pins it in their own sidebar is personal.
