How Meeting & Cadence Scoring Works

After each meeting, Brev calculates an effectiveness score out of 100 across five dimensions — so you can see whether your meetings actually drive progress.

Summary

After every meeting, Brev calculates an effectiveness score out of 100, built from five dimensions — so you can see at a glance whether your meetings are actually driving progress.

Why score meetings?

Most teams have no idea which meetings are productive — they just keep having them. Brev's score gives you a signal: did this meeting move the work forward? Over time the scores reveal patterns — which recurring meetings consistently drive decisions and accountability, and which are quietly wasting time.

The score: 0–100

Every processed meeting gets an overall effectiveness score from 0 to 100, made up of five dimensions:

  • Goal alignment — how closely the discussion tied to your active goals and OKRs.

  • Decision velocity — how decisively the meeting moved things forward (decisions made vs. deferred).

  • Execution throughput — how much concrete progress and how many clear next steps came out of it.

  • Accountability strength — whether commitments came away with clear owners.

  • Operating efficiency — how well the meeting used the time it took.

Beyond the number

Alongside the score, Brev surfaces:

  • Anti-patterns — common meeting failure modes it detected.

  • A forward-motion assessment — whether the meeting actually advanced the work.

  • Improvement recommendations — specific ways to make the next one better.

Where to view scores

Open any processed meeting to see its effectiveness score, the five sub-scores, and the recommendations — alongside the summary, chapters, and action items.

Note: Scores are a signal, not a verdict. A low score isn't always bad — some sensitive conversations won't leave transcript evidence of outcomes. Use scores as a trend indicator across your recurring cadences, not an absolute grade on any single meeting.

Meeting Guidance & Anti Patterns

  • Low goal alignment? Run from the prepped agenda so the conversation stays tied to goals.

  • Low decision velocity or throughput? End each meeting with an explicit decisions-and-next-steps review.

  • Low accountability? Make sure every action item leaves with an owner and a due date.
