Summary
Brev's AI Insights surface pattern analysis, risk signals, and contextual recommendations directly on your goals — so you spend less time analyzing and more time acting. This article explains what AI Insights does and how to use it effectively.
What Are Goals AI Insights?
AI Insights is Brev's built-in analysis layer that reads your goals data — progress history, update patterns, check-in commentary, and goal structure — and surfaces meaningful observations automatically.
Instead of waiting for someone to notice a trend in a quarterly review, AI Insights flags it in real time. It's the difference between reactive and proactive goal management.
Where AI Insights Appear
AI Insights appear in several places across Brev:
1. Goal Detail View — An insights panel on the right side of any goal, showing observations specific to that goal.
2. Goals View — Inline callouts on goals that need attention, visible in both Tree and List view.
3. KPI Dashboard — Smart annotations on KPI cards (e.g., "Declining trend for 3 weeks").
4. Team Digests — AI-generated summaries that include insight highlights for the week.
5. Cadence Agendas — AI pre-fills the meeting agenda with goals that have notable insights.
6. In the Brev Agent, you can ask for insights.
Types of InsightsTrend Analysis
Brev tracks the direction and velocity of your Metric goals over time. Insights include:
"This metric has improved 12% week-over-week — on pace to exceed target."
"Growth has slowed for the past 3 updates. At current pace, you'll reach 78% of target."
Risk Signals
When a goal's trajectory suggests it won't hit the target:
"At the current rate of progress, this goal will reach 62% of target by the end of the quarter."
"This goal has not been updated in 14 days. Progress may be stale."
Pattern Recognition
Brev compares your goal's behavior to historical patterns:
"Goals of this type typically see a surge in the last 3 weeks of the quarter. Monitor closely."
"This goal was marked 'At risk' last month, but recovered. Here's what changed."
Update Behavior Insights
"This goal's owner has not submitted a check-in in 2 weeks."
"Check-in frequency has dropped from weekly to monthly over the past 6 weeks."
Cross-Goal Correlations (where available)
"Pipeline KPI is declining while Sales Hired KPI is on track — possible ramp lag."
Acting on Insights
Insights are only useful if they drive action. From any insight:
1. Click View goal to open the Detail View with context.
2. Click Add action to create a task tied to the insight.
3. Click Dismiss if the insight isn't relevant or actionable.
4. Click Share to send the insight to a teammate via Slack or mention in a comment using @mentions.
Pro tip: Review AI Insights as part of your Monday check-in ritual, before your WBR. They surface the goals that most need discussion, so you can walk into your review already knowing what's important.
⚠️ Note: Insight quality improves with more data. Goals with consistent check-ins and connected data sources generate richer, more accurate insights than goals that are rarely updated.
AI Insights vs. Goal Coach
These are two different features:
Goal Coach makes your goals well-formed. AI Insights tells you how they're actually performing.
