Summary
Brev's Goals view becomes more powerful when you know how to filter and reshape it. This article covers every filter option and view mode so you can always surface exactly the goals that matter right now.
Why Views and Filters Matter
As your goal system grows — multiple teams, multiple quarters, multiple levels of hierarchy — the unfiltered Goals view becomes overwhelming. Filters are how you cut through the noise and focus on what's relevant to you in this moment.
Whether you're prepping for a team review, doing a personal check-in, or building a board-level report, a well-configured view saves you 15 minutes every time.
Tree View
The default. Shows the full parent-child hierarchy with collapse/expand controls. Best for:
Visualizing how team goals connect to company goals
Reviewing alignment during planning sessions
Onboarding new team members to the goal structure
KPI Dashboard
Metric-type goals only, displayed as cards. Best for:
Operational reviews
Real-time monitoring
Meetings where you're walking through numbers
Filtering Goals
Click Filter in the toolbar to open the filter panel. You can filter by:
Owner
Show goals owned by a specific person or your own goals. Use "Owned by me" for your personal goal view.
Team / Group
Filter to a specific team or department. Useful in cross-functional orgs where many goals are visible.
Status
On track — Green. No intervention needed.
At risk — Yellow. Worth watching.
Off track — Red. Needs attention.
Completed — Closed goals.
Not started — Goals that haven't had any update yet.
Goal Type
Filter by Objective, Metric/KPI, Milestone, or Project.
Time Period
Current quarter, previous quarter, custom date range. Great for looking back at past OKR cycles.
Combining Filters
Filters stack. You can combine "Status: At risk" + "Owner: Me" + "Time period: Q2" to instantly see your at-risk goals this quarter. Brev saves filter combinations as Saved Views.
Saving Custom Views
Once you've configured filters you'll use repeatedly:
1. Set your filters.
2. Click Save view in the top-right.
3. Name it (e.g., "My Q2 goals," "Sales team — at risk," "Board prep").
Now Logged in Your Views
Pro tip: Create a "Weekly review" saved view filtered to your team's goals, updated in the last 7 days. Open it every Monday morning as your starting point.
Searching for a Specific Goal
Use the Search bar at the top of the navigation UI. You can search for teams, users, projects, goals, and KPIs, and more.
⚠️ Note: Search returns results across all goals you have access to, including archived ones. If you're seeing unexpected results, check the time period filter — it may be showing historical goals.
