The KPI Dashboard in Brev gives you a live view of your most important numbers in one place — no spreadsheet hunting required. This article explains how to set it up, customize it, and use it to run sharper reviews.

What the KPI Dashboard Is

The KPI Dashboard is your single pane of glass for Metric-type goals. While the Goals view shows the full hierarchy of Objectives, Key Results, and Projects, the KPI Dashboard surfaces just the numbers — the KPIs and Metrics your team tracks most closely.

Think of it as the scoreboard: updated in real time (for connected data sources), organized by team or time period, and always one click away from the deeper goal detail.

Accessing the KPI Dashboard

1. Click Goals in the left sidebar.

2. Every view contains a KPI dashboard.

Add your first KPI

Open any Metric you want to add to your dashboard (KPIs are metrics only)
Click the ⋯ (three dots) next to the metric (on the right)
Select Add to KPI Dashboard

What happens: The first time you do this, Brev creates a new dashboard section called KPIs.

Reading the Dashboard

Each KPI card shows:

Goal title — The name of the Metric or KPI
Owner — Who's responsible
Current value — The latest data point (auto or manual)
Target value — End-of-period goal
Progress bar — Visual representation of current vs. target
Status indicator — On track (green), At risk (yellow), Off track (red)
Last updated — When the value was last changed

Cards with data source connections update automatically. Cards without show a "Last updated" timestamp so you can tell when data is stale.

Customizing Your Dashboard

Filtering the view:

By team — See only your team's KPIs, or pick a specific department.
By time period — Current quarter, previous quarter, or custom range.
By owner — Useful for 1:1s or individual performance reviews.
By status — Show only at-risk or off-track KPIs for focused problem-solving.

Grouping:

Switch between grouping by Team, Owner, Time period, or Status using the Group By dropdown. For leadership reviews, grouping by Team gives the best overview.

Using the Dashboard in Meetings

The KPI Dashboard is built for live review. In a weekly business review or cadence meeting:

1. Open the KPI Dashboard and filter to the relevant team.

2. Start with red (off-track) KPIs — these drive the conversation.

3. Quickly skip green KPIs to save time for what needs attention.

4. Click into any KPI to see the full detail view, history, and comments.

Pro tip: Share your screen and walk through the KPI Dashboard instead of a slide deck in your weekly reviews. It's always current, it's interactive, and it cuts meeting prep time to near zero.

Setting Up a Useful Dashboard

A common mistake is adding too many KPIs. The dashboard becomes noise instead of signal. Best practices:

Limit to 8–12 KPIs per team at the dashboard level. More than that and nothing is actually "key."
Include a mix of leading indicators (pipeline, engagement) and lagging indicators (revenue, churn).
Review the dashboard setup at the start of each quarter. Retire KPIs that are no longer relevant.

⚠️ Note: Every Metric goal you create appears in the KPI Dashboard by default. If your dashboard is cluttered, archive old or low-priority Metrics that don't need active tracking.

Exporting Dashboard Data

To share KPI data outside Brev:

1. Click Export in the top-right of the KPI Dashboard.

2. Choose CSV (for spreadsheets) or PDF (for reports).

3. Apply any filters first — the export reflects the current view.

You can also embed a live KPI view in Team Digests and Cadence agendas, so the numbers travel with the meeting.
