Editing Goals and Bulk Editing Goals

Summary

Goals change — targets get revised, ownership shifts, and actions get added mid-quarter. This article covers how to edit goals in Brev and how to manage the Actions that live beneath them.

Editing a Goal

You can edit any goal you own (or any goal if you're a workspace admin). Here's how:

From the Detail View:

1. Open the goal by clicking its title.

2. Click the ⋮ menu on the top right corner.

3. Select Edit.

4. Make your changes in the dialogue

5. Click Save.

From the Goals List:

1. Hover over the goal row.

2. Click the ⋮ menu on the right.

3. Select Edit.

4. Make your changes in the dialogue

5. Click Save.

Changes are logged automatically in the goal's check-in history with a "field updated" entry.

What You Can Edit

Almost everything is editable mid-quarter:

⚠️ Note: Editing a target value mid-quarter is valid but should be intentional. If you lower the target to make the goal easier to hit, Goal Coach will flag it. If you raise it because you're significantly outperforming, that's a different story. Add a comment explaining the change.

Revising Targets Mid-Quarter

Sometimes a target was set with wrong data, or circumstances change dramatically. If you need to revise:

1. Open the goal and select edit.

2. Edit on the Target value.

3. Enter the new target.

4. Save.

5. In your next check in, explain why the target changed. ("Q2 budget cut 20%, adjusted pipeline target accordingly.")

The revision is visible in the check-in history. The progress chart will show a dotted line at the original target for reference.

Pro tip: Revising a target is not a failure. Markets shift. Acquisitions happen. Budget changes. What matters is that you document why — this is what separates honest OKR practice from gaming the system.

Bulk Editing Goals

To edit multiple goals at once (useful for end-of-quarter cleanup or reassignment):

1. Hover over the goal row.

2. Click the ⋮ menu on the right.

3. Click 'Select'

4. Use the floating nav at the bottom of the screen to make your selections and bulk edits

Archiving vs. Deleting Goals

Archive: Hides the goal from active views but keeps the full history. Use when a goal is no longer relevant but you want to preserve the record.

Delete: Permanent. Only use for goals created in error. Deleted goals cannot be recovered.

To archive:

1. Open the goal.

2. Click ⋮ menu → Archive.

3. Confirm.

Archived goals are accessible via the "Show archived" filter in the Goals view.
