Summary
Invite your team to Brev individually or in bulk, assign roles, and organize people into teams so goals can be owned, aligned, and tracked across your org.
Why This Matters
Brev works best when the people who own goals are the ones updating them — not a single admin copy-pasting data. Getting your team into Brev early means check-ins happen where the work is, action items are assigned to real people, and nobody has to ask for status because it's already visible.
Understanding Roles
Before you invite anyone, decide which role they get:
Typical setup:
You (VP of Ops or CoS) → Admin
Direct reports and department heads → Member
Senior leadership/executives who want visibility but won't update goals → Member, Team Admin, or Team Owner
Pro tip: When in doubt, give people Member access. You can always change roles later, and Members can't access billing or org-level settings anyway. Viewer access often creates friction — people who need to comment or add context need Member.
Inviting Individuals
1. Go to Settings → Team Members.
2. Click Invite Members.
3. Enter their email address.
4. Select their role (Admin / Member / Viewer).
5. Click Send Invite.
The invitee receives an email with a join link. If your org uses Google or Microsoft SSO, they'll log in with their existing work credentials — no separate password needed.
Bulk Inviting
For larger teams, use bulk invite:
1. Go to Settings → Team Members → Invite.
2. Click Bulk Invite.
3. Paste a comma-separated or newline-separated list of email addresses.
4. Assign a default role for all invitees (you can adjust individually after).
5. Click Send Invites.
For organizations with 50+ people, contact support about CSV import options.
Organizing Into Teams
Teams in Brev mirror your organizational structure. They're used for:
Filtering the Goals dashboard by department
Scoping Team Digests to specific groups
Assigning cadences to the right participants
To create teams:
1. Go to Settings → Teams → New Team.
2. Name the team (e.g., "Product," "Revenue," "Engineering").
3. Add members.
4. Assign a team lead (the person who owns the team's goals by default).
5. Click Create Team.
Pro tip: Create your team structure before you create department-level goals. That way you can assign ownership and alignment correctly from the start.
What Happens After Someone Accepts
Once a team member accepts their invite:
They land on the Brev dashboard
They'll see any goals they've been assigned ownership of
They'll start receiving check-in reminders (once reminders are configured)
If Slack is connected, they'll receive a welcome message with a quick start link
Managing Existing Members
To change a role or remove someone:
1. Go to Settings → Team Members.
2. Find the person and click the ··· menu next to their name.
3. Select Change Role or Remove Member.
⚠️ Note: Removing a member doesn't delete their goals or action items. Goals they owned will be unassigned — make sure to reassign them.
Resending Invitations
If someone didn't receive their invite:
1. Go to Settings → Team Members.
2. Find the person (they'll show as "Pending").
3. Click Resend Invite.
Provisioning
You can provision users before they're invited — so you can assign goal ownership to people before they have access to the product.
Select the Invite dropdown.
Choose Provision mode.
Send the invite.
Success check: Invitees appear in your members list as Invited (then Active once they join), and show up in the dropdowns when you assign goal owners.
