Dark mode, goal blockers, and actions you can plan around
Brev now has a dark theme, shows which goals are holding others up, and lets you give actions due dates and dependencies. Check-ins also get emoji reactions and say where they were written.
New
- See where a check-in came from. A check-in written outside the Brev app says so after the author's name: the AI assistant it came from, or "via MCP", "via CLI" or "via API". You can tell at a glance which updates came through an AI assistant.
- Dark mode. Choose System, Light or Dark in Profile, Appearance, use the switch in the account menu, or press D anywhere outside a text field. System follows your device.
- See what is blocking a goal. Add Blocked by and Blocking links from a goal's three-dot menu. The indicator turns yellow when the blocking goal is behind and red when it is at risk, so knock-on risk shows up before the review does.
- Plan actions, not just list them. Press C on My Actions to open the New action window and set a due date, tags, and what the action blocks or is blocked by before it is created. Select up to 25 actions and choose Align with Operator to link them to the right goals in one pass.
- React to check-ins. Click the smiley under any check-in or comment to react with an emoji. The author sees it in their Inbox, so you can acknowledge progress without writing another comment.
- Manage tags in one place. Admins can rename, recolor, create and delete workspace tags from Settings, Workspace, Tags. Members can now create tags too, not only admins.
- Edit goals in place. Change a goal's name and description without opening a dialog. Goal and team descriptions support rich formatting, and @mentioning someone in a goal description notifies them.
Improved
- Every workspace can give Projects their own start and due dates. Set them right on the goal row, clear one from the date picker, or use the right-click menu, which now also sets goal type and roll-up type.
- Filter and save goal views by goal type and by owner type (company, team or individual).
- Symbol shortcuts and ":" emoji now work in every text field, including goal titles and metric names.
- The goal creation dialog is simpler, with rarely used options tucked behind "...".
- "Ask about this page" starts a fresh Operator chat about the page you are on, instead of reopening your last conversation.
- The Help & support menu links to the Help center, What's new and System status, and the in-app help has a cleaner layout.
- One consistent focus outline, matching badges, fields, menus and tooltips across the app, and looping animations stop when your device asks for reduced motion.
Fixed
- Reports, Teams could show an average progress of 4500% instead of 45%.
- Goal progress popovers showed the period ending a day early.
- Deleting several teams at once failed with no reason when those teams owned goals. You now choose what happens to each team's goals.
- A tag removed from a goal could come back a little later, and after one change was refused, later edits to the same goal could stop saving.
- Pressing Enter to confirm Japanese, Chinese or Korean input could save or send your text too early.
- Compact goal rows showed only one owner on goals with several.
- New comments on an artifact appeared for other viewers only after a reload.
